Conrad “Connie” Zitzner, age 72 of Liberty Pole, rural Viroqua passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, August 4th, 2018 at the Bland-Bekkedal Center for Hospice Care in Viroqua. Conrad was born on August 17th, 1945 in Viroqua to Gaylord and Mildred (Hooverson) Zitzner. He attended and graduated from Viroqua High School in 1963. On May 15th, 1971 he married Irene “Ike” Nustad at the Country Coon Prairie Lutheran Church rural Westby. They had three children, He spent most of his adult life farming. He also worked for the Franklin Township and the Viroqua Hills Golf Course. He was a member of the Viroqua Eagles Post No. 2707. Throughout the years he enjoyed playing ball, hunting, fishing, and hunting elk out west. In his later years he enjoyed mowing yard, brush hogging, and above all spending time watching his grandchildren play ball.
He is survived by his wife Irene “Ike” Zitzner of Viroqua, his children Lucas (Tammy) Zitzner of Viroqua, Jessica (Jake) Peroceschi of East Troy, and Aaron (Tasha) Zitzner of Viroqua. They had seven grandchildren, Madysen, Saige, and Braylan Zitzner, Isabella and Grace Peroceschi, Savanah Zitzner and Morgan and Dominic Inman. He is also survived by one brother Dennis (Cheryl) Zitzner of De Soto, one sister Diane (Jerry) DeLap of Viroqua, one aunt Myrtle Yanske of Viroqua, one uncle Sam Hooverson of Beloit, one sister-in-law Vicky (Ron) Fischer of Eden Prairie, as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 10th at 1 p.m. at the Thorson Funeral Home in Viroqua with Pastor Julie Wollman officiating. Burial will take place in the Liberty Pole Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Following the service a luncheon will be held at the Viroqua Eagles. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are preferred.
