Darlene C. Allen, age 80, passed away peacefully at the Vernon Manor Nursing Home in Viroqua on January 10th, 2018. She was born on November 16th, 1937 to Clair and Gertrude (Bluske) Allen in La Crosse. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Chaseburg. She loved to listen to music and she loved to sing along. She thoroughly enjoyed watching T.V., especially Gunsmoke. She received loving care her entire life from her parents, until 1982 when she moved to Vernon Manor, where she has been receiving excellent care for the past 35 years. She was also a proud charter member of the Vernon Voices singing group.
Darlene is survived by her sisters: Ellen (Harvey Goede) Gianoli, Karen (Dale) Weber; nieces and nephews: Nick Gianoli, Sarah (Tim) Nyhus, Kurt (Sally) Weber, David (Diane) Weber, and Gregg (Sarah) Weber. She is also survived by many great-nieces and nephews, as well as many other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother-in-law: Phillip Gianoli; nephew: Brian Gianoli, as well as other family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 13th, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Thorson Funeral Home in Viroqua with Pastor Steven Oldre officiating. Burial will take place in the Viroqua Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers family suggest memorials to the Vernon Manor Activity Fund.
